Configuring Windows7 VPN Server


The following page details the steps necessary to configure a VPN Server

VPN basically allows a remote computer to see the server as if it were on the same local network.

1. From the system tray icon, open the Network and Sharing Center
2. Click on Change adapter settings
3. Click on File / New Incoming Connection
4. Select the users you want to be able to connect to the VPN server
6. You can also Add someone at this point at well. Click on the Next button
7. Check to connect Through the Internet
8. Click on the Allow access button
9. This will show the following window
10. Now in the network connections window, you will have an Incoming Connections icon. From here you can view the settings and add users
11. The VPN Server should also have a static LAN IP address assigned and have port 1723 mapped to that IP address if you are behind a router.
